Family dog dies after saving 15-year-old girl from house fire


When a Texas family's house burned down on New Year's Eve, one of their family's beloved pets saved their daughter's life at the cost of its own.Jennifer Oleniczak said she heard a loud banging on her door and looked outside to see her neighbor yelling that her house was on fire. When she turned and looked out the door, her deck and the stairs were completely on fire.After yelling for her daughter and husband to get out, she grabbed her Shih Tzus and six puppies."And I started to run with them outside, but I tripped and so I broke my fall. And I started throwing the puppies out onto the patio and my husband was already off the deck so he was grabbing the puppies and throwing them off," Jennifer Oleniczak said. With her husband and neighbors helping her up and into the street, her 15-year-old daughter Jaylee started screaming, "Ollie, Ollie woke me up!""She said 'yes, that's how I heard the door.' She said, 'Because Ollie came into the room. Where is Ollie?' So we couldn't find him," Jennifer Oleniczak said.The next day, the family searched for their pitbull named Ollie.They checked the burned house, posted all over social media and checked local shelters but found nothing. Until Jan. 9."And my husband went in and he found him right at my daughter's bedside. At the foot of her bed, like he had collapsed from the smoke inhalation. And I just want to give him a big hug you know, because had he not gone in there, Jaylee would have died," Jennifer Oleniczak said.Watch the video above for the full story.
