Bearcats set to host Navy Midshipmen

Arquon Bush didn't play much against Navy last season. Bush, who lined up at nickelback for much of his career at the University of Cincinnati, was relegated to the sideline as the Bearcats played with just two cornerbacks for most of the day.

That changed late in the game.

The Midshipmen scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull within 27-20 with 50 seconds to play. Navy then recovered an onside kick.

Cincinnati switched up its defensive look and called on Bush. The 6-foot, 198-pound Cleveland native ran onto the field and delivered a game-sealing interception against Navy quarterback Tai Lavatai to halt the home rally and preserve the Bearcats' first-ever win over the Midshipmen at their place.

Cincinnati cornerback Arquon Bush celebrates after intercepting Navy quarterback Tai Lavatai to seal a victory last season. The Bearcats look to extend their 30-game home winning streak Saturday against the Midshipmen.

This season, Bush has a much larger role. Now the senior starting cornerback, Bush is not only a leader of the defensive backfield but a prominent voice on the entire team. Bush's responsibility this week is to make sure Cincinnati's loss last week at UCF stays in Central Florida and doesn't carry over to the team's final four regular-season games.

"(I'm) just trying to keep everybody up," Bush said. "Just keep everybody in good spirits so we can just continue moving forward, because one game doesn't define us."
