Meet the newest Sexiest Man Alive: Chris Evans!
People magazine named the "Captain America" leading man as its latest hunk of the year, passing on the crown from 2021's sexiest man Paul Rudd.
Best known for his roles as Marvel superhero Steve Rogers/Captain America and more recently as Buzz Lightyear in the 2022 Pixar movie "Lightyear," Evans said his latest achievement will give his mom bragging rights and more to celebrate.
"My mom will be so happy," Evans, 41, told People in his Sexiest Man Alive cover story. "She's proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about."
'I love love, who doesn't?':Chris Evans on 'Lightyear,' playing bad guys and being 'a romantic person'
"It's something that as I become old and saggy I can look back on and say 'I remember then…'" Evans told the outlet. "I'm lucky to be in the discussion in any capacity."
Up next on Evans' plate is an onscreen reunion with "Knives Out" co-star Ana de Armas for the Apple TV+ film "Ghosted," slated for next year.
"It's the type of movies that I love that I don't think get made enough," Evans told USA TODAY earlier this year. "Most characters you channel through your own experience and I consider myself a romantic person. I love love, who doesn't? It's nice to have that take a center role in a piece of material as opposed to saving the world."
Evans takes the reins from "Clueless" actor Rudd, who told People last year that he shared the news first with his wife Julie Yaeger, who was "stupefied."
Paul Rudd is People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2021: 'You don't age, which is weird'
"After some giggling and shock, she said 'Oh, they got it right,'" he added. "And that was very sweet. She was probably not telling the truth, but what's she going to say?"
Past celebrities who've been part of the "club" have included Michael B. Jordan, EGOT winner John Legend, Idris Elba and Blake Shelton.
"I'm hoping now that I'll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan," Rudd said. "And I figure I'll be on a lot more yachts. I'm excited to expand my yachting life. And I'll probably try to get better at brooding in really soft light. I like to ponder. I think this is going to help me become more inward and mysterious. And I'm looking forward to that."
