Authorities at the University of Virginia issued a school lockdown late Sunday after reports of a shooting near a parking garage on campus.
According to the UVA Police Department, a shooting was reported at Culbreth Road in Charlottesville. A suspect was at large and considered armed and dangerous, police later tweeted.
The UVA Police Department tweeted that it was looking for Christopher Darnell Jones regarding the shooting and advised the public to call 911 if they see him and not to approach him.
Multiple police agencies were searching for the suspect, who may be driving a black SUV, police said
It's unclear if there were any fatalities or injuries.
"There has been a shooting on Culbreth Road and the suspect is at large and considered armed and dangerous," University of Virginia president Jim Ryan said on Twitter.
