Giving Tuesday, the global holiday encouraging others to spread kindness, is observed every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It was started by the Giving Tuesday nonprofit organization in 2012, and this Tuesday will mark its 10th year. The holiday is celebrated worldwide in 85 countries, according to the organization.

What is Giving Tuesday?
Started in 2012, Giving Tuesday has grown into a global movement that encourages people to donate, volunteer and celebrate generosity. It's organized by the nonprofit group Giving Tuesday.
How does Giving Tuesday work?
Anyone can participate in Giving Tuesday and, while some may choose to make donations, you don't have to spend money to celebrate the holiday.
The Giving Tuesday organization suggests volunteering virtually or in person, learning more about local causes or showing gratitude and kindness to others.

Is Facebook matching donations for Giving Tuesday 2022?
Facebook is matching donations, but it will be different than past years.
Meta will match 100% of donations made by Facebook users who sign up to donate monthly to a nonprofit on the platform, a press release said. The company will match up to $100 per donation, $100,000 per nonprofit and up to $7 million in total.
Facebook users in the United States can sign up to donate monthly to nonprofits now through Dec. 31 to be eligible. Like years past, the company will cover donation processing fees.
