Ohio’s K-12 School Safety Grant Program: What schools received funding

More than 700 K-12 schools in the state will receive grants totaling $57.8 million to support security upgrades, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Monday. A total of 79 local schools received more than $6 million in awards.

Cincinnati Public Schools received the most awards in the region, total $925,570 for 21 school buildings. Forest Hills School District received $504,310 for eight school buildings.

The $57.8 million in awards marks the third wave of safety grants in Ohio since May 2021. The most recent batch of grants are being awarded to 708 schools across the state, including public schools and chartered non-public schools, according to Monday's announcement. Schools can apply for up to $100,000 and use the funds to purchase new security cameras, public address systems, automatic door locks, visitor badging systems, exterior lighting among other security upgrades.
