University of Wisconsin athletic director Chris McIntosh told reporters Monday night that former Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Luke Fickell - introduced Monday as the Badgers' new head coach - agreed to a seven-year deal that starts at $7.5 million per year and averages $7.8 million per year.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported earlier via Twitter that Fickell's contract would average about $7.9 million per year. Thamel also tweeted that Fickell is bringing strength coach Brady Collins with him to Wisconsin.

The Enquirer's Keith Jenkins wrote in July about Collins, whose official title at UC is director of football sports performance.

Fickell and UC agreed in February to a contract extension that was to pay Fickell $5 million per year through 2028.
