Commanders, Giants tie; Ravens win amid Lamar Jackson exit

Week 13 provided more fireworks around the NFL landscape.

The New York Giants and Washington Commanders played to a draw in their NFC East divisional matchup. The Philadelphia Eagles continued to soar this season and the Detroit Lions outpaced the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Injuries also headlined the week. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson exited with a knee injury. As a result, Ravens backup Tyler Huntley was called upon and he delivered with a game-winning touchdown drive.

In the afternoon slate, fans will be treated to an AFC Championship rematch. The Kansas City Chiefs seekrevenge against the Cincinnati Bengals. The stars will be out as Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Travis Kelce and Ja’Marr Chase take center stage.

Week 13 concludes with a pivotal NFC South battle between the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Here's a rundown of all the Week 13 action around the NFL.

Buffalo Bills 24, New England Patriots 10

Briefly: The Bills won their third game in a 12-day stretch on Thursday night. Buffalo relied on their rushing attack to neutralize the Patriots. Bills rookie James Cook recorded 105 scrimmage yards on 20 touches. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry in the victory. The Patriots were held to just 242 total yards and finished a disappointing 3-for-12 on third down. Patriots quarterback Mac Jones finished 22-of-36 for 195 yards and a touchdown.

One highlight to know: Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones' first NFL catch was memorable. He hauled in a 48-yard reception in the first quarter. This season, Jones also has a game-winning punt return touchdown.

Next up: The Patriots face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14. The Bills renew their AFC East rivalry against the New York Jets.

Minnesota Vikings 27, New York Jets 22

Briefly: The Vikings held on late to improve to 10-2 this season. Minnesota established their rushing attack early as backfield duo Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison combined for two touchdowns. The Jets kept pace with 16 second-half points to climb back into the game. However, the Vikings forced two turnovers, including a late interception in the fourth quarter. Vikings safety Camryn Bynum sealed the game with the turnover as the Vikings held on at home.

One highlight to know: The Vikings jumped out to a 10-3 lead as Dalvin Cook scored a 4-yard touchdown run.

Next up: The Jets will play the Buffalo Bills in Week 14. The Vikings face the Detroit Lions.

Baltimore Ravens 10, Denver Broncos 9

Briefly: Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley didn't start in Week 13, but he ended the game in grand fashion. Huntley was pressed into duty after Ravens star Lamar Jackson exited with a knee injury. In the fourth quarter, Huntley led a 16-play, 91-yard drive that he capped with a game-winning 2-yard touchdown. The Broncos held the Ravens to just 285 total yards. However, the Broncos continued to struggle offensively. Denver was 2-for-12 on third down. Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson completed 17 of 22 passes for 189 yards. Baltimore improved to 8-4 this season but all eyes will be Jackson's status heading into Week 14.

One highlight to know: Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley stepped up in backup duty and delivered with a two-yard touchdown. He finished 27 of 32 for 187 yards. Huntley also added 41 rushing yards.

Next up: The Broncos will host the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14. The Ravens play the Pittsburgh Steelers in an AFC North clash.

Washington Commanders 20, New York Giants 20

Briefly: The NFC East race got another wrinkle as the Commanders and Giants held serve in Week 13. This is the second NFL game to end in a tie this season. The Commanders generated 411 yards of total offense. Commanders star Terry McLaurin recorded eight catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Giants running back Saquon Barkley had 81 total yards. The Giants were held scoreless in the fourth quarter and overtime. However, New York had a chance to win the game in the final seconds of overtime. Giants kicker Graham Gano missed a 58-yard field goal that led to the tie game.

One highlight to know: Commanders receiver Jahan Dotson hauled in a 28-yard touchdown with 1:45 remaining in the fourth quarter. The score tied the game and sent it into overtime.

Next up: The Commanders are on a bye week. The Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC East divisional matchup.

Green Bay Packers 28, Chicago Bears 19

Briefly: Packers receiver Christian Watson continued his magical rookie campaign with two touchdowns against the Bears. Watson hauled in three catches for 48 yards and a score. He also added a 46-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Bears were outscored 18-3 in the second half as the Packers neutralized star quarterback Justin Fields. The talented signal-caller threw two late interceptions that proved costly. The Packers improved to 5-8 overall. The Bears dropped to 3-10 this season.

One highlight to know: Christian Watson scored his eighth touchdown in four games with a 46-yard run. He displayed his speed as he raced past defenders into the end zone.

Tennessee Titans at Philadelphia Eagles

What to know: The Titans head to Philadelphia for a battle between first-place teams. The Eagles own the NFL’s best record but get a stiff test against the Titans. Both teams are physical and excel by imposing their will on opponents. The Eagles could get defensive tackle Jordan Davis back in the lineup. He will be needed against Titans star Derrick Henry. In his career, Henry has averaged 96.7 yards per game in 21 December matchups.

Playoff Scenario: The Eagles need a win and some help to secure a postseason berth on Sunday.

Pittsburgh Steelers 19, Atlanta Falcons 16

What to know: The Steelers return to Atlanta for the first time since the 2014 season. Pittsburgh holds a 14-2-1 record in the all-time series and won the last three meetings. The Falcons haven’t defeated the Steelers since the 2006 season. However, longtime franchise quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Ryan aren’t walking through the door. Both teams will write a new chapter on Sunday. Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett looks to string together a winning streak. Meanwhile, the Falcons aim to remain in NFC South contention.

Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans

What to know: Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson returns to action after serving an 11-game suspension. Cleveland has struggled this season but have a chance to make a late postseason run. Watson will add a major boost as he debuts against his former team. The Texans are looking for their first home victory as quarterback Kyle Allen draws his second start.

Detroit Lions 40, Jacksonville Jaguars 14

What to know: Both teams have improved in recent weeks. The Jaguars built momentum with a comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12. The Lions have won three of their last four games. Sunday’s matchup will feature the top picks in the 2022 NFL Draft – Travon Walker and Aidan Hutchinson. This season, Walker has 2.5 sacks and an interception. Hutchinson has collected 5.5 sacks in his rookie year.
