Cincinnati’s Gino Guidugli among Western Michigan coaching candidates

Gino Guidugli

Cincinnati Bearcats offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli is among finalists for the Western Michigan University Broncos head coaching vacancy, according to a report Tuesday from Football Scoop's John Brice.

The Enquirer's Keith Jenkins reported that with defensive coordinator Mike Tressel leaving UC to join Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell in Madison, Louisville associate head coach and defensive coordinator Bryan Brown appears to be headed to Cincinnati. Jenkins added that it remains to be seen where Guidugli - who starred at Highlands High School before playing quarterback at UC from 2001 to 2004 - will be next season.

Brice also reported that Guidugli "has been prioritized as a top assistant coach for Fickell," and that additional WMU candidates include Louisville Cardinals offensive coordinator Lance Taylor and Michigan Wolverines running backs coach Mike Hart - with the school looking to name its new head coach later this week.
