Eleven days after being introduced as the head football coach at Wisconsin, former University of Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell said thank you to the school and community he left behind.
The 49-year-old coach took to Twitter on Thursday to share his gratitude to UC, its players, their fans, and the city.

"Thank you, Cincinnati," Fickell wrote in the post. "Coaching at the University of Cincinnati has been an honor and a rewarding experience that has afforded me the opportunity to learn and grow professionally and personally.
"I want to say thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be your Head Football Coach. To John Cunningham, President Neville Pinto, Ryan Hayes, and many others – thank you for all of your support.
"To all of the players – I love you, I appreciate you, and I'll never forget you. You made me a better coach, person, father, and leader. I owe everything to the players that made our TEAM, program, and University shine.
"Thank you UC & all of Cincinnati! Forever grateful, Luke Fickell."
Fickell was introduced as the head football coach at Wisconsin on Nov. 27. He left Cincinnati as the winningest coach in program history, posting a 57-18 record over six seasons. Fickell led the Bearcats to a 9-3 mark this season and a 13-1 record in 2021 that included a loss in the College Football Playoff semifinal.
Cincinnati on Monday announced former Louisville and Appalachian State head coach Scott Satterfield as Fickell's replacement. Bearcats cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs has served as interim head coach since Fickell's departure. Coombs will lead Cincinnati against Louisville – Satterfield's former team – in the inaugural Fenway Bowl on Dec. 17 at Fenway Park in Boston.
