In a vote that ended Dec. 9, Cincinnati.com readers selected the Cincinnati Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Mercy Health, from high school sports action through Dec. 4.
Winners will receive certificates by the end of the sports season.
The Athlete of the Week voting occurs during all high school sports seasons and recognizes athletes across all sports.

The Enquirer has pulled a few ballots with voting issues. A winner may still be named if those issues are resolved.
Ohio boys basketball team of the week: Fairfield – Fairfield improved to 3-0 after beating La Salle 71-41 and Lakota East 55-48.
Ohio girls basketball team of the week: Seven Hills – Seven Hills has won three straight after an opening loss, beating St. Bernard, Lockland and Cincinnati Christian.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball team of the week: Bishop Brossart – The Mustangs are 4-0, beating Villa Madonna, Newport, Holmes and Ludlow.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball team of the week: Simon Kenton – The Lady Pioneers beat Owen County 60-47 before a 67-52 win against Ryle.
Boys winter team of the week: Elder wrestling – The Panthers hosted the Elder Duals to open their season and went 5-0 with wins against Alter, Moore, Middletown, Sycamore and Fairmont.
Girls winter team of the week: Lebanon swimming – Lebanon took first place in the Mason Invitational, scoring 4-6.5 points to outpace runner-up Mason by 24.
Football player of the week: Austin Waddell, Beechwood – The senior was named most valuable player of the Class 2A state final after calling plays for the defense at linebacker and leading the team with six tackles, plus anchoring the offensive line.
Ohio big-school boys basketball player of the week: Deshawne Crim, Fairfield – Crim had 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting to go with seven steals, four assists and four rebounds in Fairfield’s 71-41 win over La Salle Nov. 29.
Ohio small-school boys basketball player of the week: Jace Blackburn, Felicity-Franklin – Blackburn had 12 points and 13 rebounds in Felicity-Franklin’s 68-58 win over Blanchester Dec. 2.
Ohio big-school girls basketball player of the week: Breyel Kidd, Fairfield – The senior guard had 18 points, three rebounds and two assists off the bench in Fairfield’s 59-40 win over Mt. Healthy Nov. 28.
Ohio small-school girls basketball player of the week: Peyton Jones, Williamsburg - In wins over Blanchester and Bethel-Tate, the freshman guard combined for 41 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Northern Kentucky boys basketball player of the week: Henry Thole, Villa Madonna – In two games last week he averaged 27.5 points and eight rebounds as the Vikings lost to bigger schools Bishop Brossart and Williamstown.
Ohio girls bowler to the week: Natalie DiGiacomo, Turpin – She started her season with four games of 177 or better, including a 199 against McNicholas. Her series 355 and 381 series led the Spartans to two wins to open their season.
Northern Kentucky boys bowler of the week: Alex Contreras-Wilson, Boone County – He had Northern Kentucky’s highest series for the week at 460, including a 244 and 216.
Northern Kentucky girls bowler of the week: Lily Bauer, Simon Kenton – She shot 181 and 166 for a total score of 347, the third-highest series of the week.
Ice hockey player of the week: Braden Houser, Springboro – The senior keeper had a momentum-shifting glove save in the second period for the Panthers’ first away win against DeSales Dec. 4.
Ohio boys swimmer/diver of the week: Hayden Meyers, Turpin – The senior won the 200 IM and 100 backstroke in the Spartans’ team win over Lakota West and Lakota East Dec. 1.
Ohio girls swimmer/diver of the week: Katherine Fisher, Lebanon – She won the 100 IM and 100 breaststroke to help Lebanon to a team title at the Mason Invitational Dec. 3.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys swimmer/diver of the week: Will Smith, Scott – He placed first in the 50 freestyle, 100 free, 200 free relay and 200 medley relay (freestyle leg) at the South Dearborn meet. Dec. 3. He earned 21 points helping his team place first in combined and first in the boys standings.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls swimmer/diver of the week: Lexi Kollar, Boone County – She won the 100 breaststroke by more than 10 seconds in the six-team Conner Cougar Classic Dec. 3. She also scored in the 100 freestyle and swam on two scoring relays.
Ohio boys wrestler of the week: Dylan Short, Blanchester – The senior began his season with five wins in the 157-pound weight class, all five victories coming via the pin.
Ohio girls wrestler of the week: Elizabeth Madison, Loveland – It took her two minutes and 26 seconds, but she pinned her opponent to win the 170-pound weight class at the Hammer & Anvil tournament.
Boys archer of the week: Spencer Meyers, Dixie Heights – The junior shot 281 to finish in the Notre Dame Academy tournament Dec. 3, helping the Colonels finish second in the team standings.
Girls archer of the week: Alexis Hunt, Conner – The junior shot 292 to win the girls division and finish second among all competitors at the Pendleton County tournament Dec. 3.
