KELLY: GEORGE WAGNER IV WILL BE BACK IN COURT THIS MORNING, AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF MURDER. WLWT NEWS 5’S MEREDITH STUTZ IS LIVE AT THE COURTHOUSE WITH JUST HOW LONG HE COULD SPEND BEHIND BARS. MEREDITH: IT’S BEEN SIX AND A HALF YEARS SINCE THE PIKE COUNTY MURDERS, AND AFTER AN ALMOST THREE MONTH LONG TRIAL, TODAY IN THIS COURTHOUSE BEHIND US WE MAY FIND OUT JUST HOW LONG GEORGE WAGNER IV WILL SPEND IN JAIL. THE 31-YEAR-OLD WAS CONVICTED LAST MONTH ON ALL 22 COUNTS , INCLUDING EIGHT COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED MURDER. EIGHT MEMBERS OF THE RHODEN FAMILY WERE MURDERED HERE IN PIKE COUNTY IN APRIL OF 2016. MOST OF THEM WERE KILLED AT POINT BLANK RANGE AS A THEY SLEPT. -- POINT BLANK RANGE AS THEY SLEPT. IT WOULD BE MORE THAN A YEAR BEFORE FOUR MEMBERS OF THE WAGNER FAMILY WERE ARRESTED. GEORGE’S BROTHER JAKE WAGNER AND THEIR MOTHER, ANGELA WAGNER, BOTH PLEADED GUILTY AND TESTIFIED AGAINST GEORGE. AS A PART OF JAKE’S PLEA DEAL, THE 4 WAGNERS, INCLUDING GEORGE IV AND HIS FATHER BILLY WON’T FACE THE DEATH PENALTY. BECAUSE A JURY FOUND GEORGE GUILTY, HE MAY SPEND THE REST OF HIS LIFE IN PRISION. BILLY HAD PLEAD NOT GUILTY AND HAS YET TO GO TO TRIAL. GEORGE’S SENTENCING HEARING IS SET FOR 10:00 THIS MORNING. RELATIVES OF THE VICTIMS WILL BE ABLE TO ADDRESS THE COURT AND WAGNER DIRECTLY. KELLY: IT HAPPENED ON CORA AVENUE OFF HARRISON AVENUE, JUST BEFORE 11:00 YESTERDAY MORNING. POLICE TELL US BOTH VICTIMS HAVE NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES. INVESTIGATORS HAVE NOT SHARED ANY INFORMATION ON A POSSIBLE MOTIVE OR SUSPECT. ALSO DEVELOPING THIS MORNING, A MAN IS OUT ON BOND, AFTER BEING ARRESTED IN A MAJOR DRUG BUST IN TWO DIFFERENT CINCINNATI NEIGHBORHOODS. STEVEN: CINCINNATI POLICE ARRESTED 29-YEAR-OLD ABDUL DOTSON FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING AFTER EXECUTING TWO SEARCH WARRANTS. CPD’S NARCOTICS UNIT RECOVERED EIGHT POUNDS OF SUSPECTED FENTANYL AT LOCATIONS IN WESTWOOD AND THE CUF NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR UC POLICE ALSO RECOVERED SEVEN GUNS, AND ALMOST $16,000 IN CASH. THE DEA SAYS JUST TWO MILLIGRAMS OF FENTANYL CAN BE DEADLY, AND CPD SAYS THE AMOUNT IN THIS BUST WAS ENOUGH TO KILL NEARLY TWO MILLION PEOPLE. EIGHTY-ONE% OF OHIO’S OVERDOSE -- 81% OF OHIO’S OVERDOSE DEATHS IN 2020 INVOLVED FENTANYL. KELLY: NEW ON WLWT, POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A DEADLY CRASH OUT OF BROWN COUNTY.
