Santa’s in training hold two-day workshop to get into Christmas spirit


Summer has not yet officially arrived, but some folks are already thinking about Christmas!It's not just the elves that are busy preparing for Christmas. Santas' and Mrs. Claus' are getting ready, too."When the suit is on, you become Santa," said Santa impersonator Patrick Meehan, who is a third-generation Santa. "So the magic is in the heart, but it comes out through the suit."It's a wonderful thing to do for the children, for the spirit, for everyone to get them involved in the Christmas spirit," Meehan continued.Bluegrass Santas and Friends hosted a two-day workshop to train Christmas performers this past weekend."How do you portray yourself? Stand, carry yourself? How do you draw people into the performance and Christmas spirit?" said Carol Baker, who portrays Mrs. Claus."We are practicing every single day," said Pat Lense, also known as Cincy Santa. "We are preparing for the Christmas season every day of the year." Lense says it's the job of a lifetime."It just does something to you, getting to work with the kids and their parents and seeing their faces light up brings a joy to you you just can't imagine."
