Sports betting is now legal in the state of Ohio.
With the arrival of Jan. 1 comes the legalization of sports betting in the state of Ohio with residents able to bet on their favorite professional and collegiate teams through sportsbooks either online or in-person.
Outside of Cleveland at MGM Northfield Park's new sportsbook, resident Matt Lewis made the first legal sports wager for BetMGM at midnight Sunday: betting $2023 that the Cleveland Browns would cover as two-point underdogs against the Washington Commanders Sunday afternoon. The bet would win $1,839.09 for a total payout of $3,862.09 if the Browns cover.
Coming into its road game against Washington with a 6-9 record, the Cleveland Browns are 7-8 against the spread in 2022.
