An emotional Kim Nuxhall thought of his famous father and his mother during festivities marking the 10th anniversary of the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League.“I’m so fortunate to grow up and see my dad use his platform for good and mom supporting him. For us, it's an honor to carry that torch," said Nuxhall. That torch has provided specially modified fields and equipment for hundreds of area children to play baseball.Former Cincinnati Red Sean Casey and his Pittsburgh regional teams traveled the four hours to take on the Cincinnati little leaguers.Nuxhall says the Reds star has been a strong supporter of the miracle league since its inception.“It's something we’ve talked about for three years with Sean and to see it all happen, to see this dream come true for these kids, it's going to be a lifetime memory for all of us," said Nuxhall. Former Cincinnati Red Sean Casey threw the heat and a few curve balls, but it was the smiling players and parents like Mark and Jackson Brush that were the real stars. "I think it's really cool. Seeing everybody here is like the coolest part," said one of the participants. Tyler Bradshaw, executive director of The Nuxhall Foundation, called the day magical.“This is that magical moment we have been envisioning for so long on our tenth anniversary. And to be able to celebrate it with Sean -- a guy who has been so important to all of our players, it doesn't get any better than this. This is a magical moment," said Bradshaw. While there may be some third strikes and a few more pop flies than home runs, there are no losers here in this league of miracles and courage. No matter the score, everyone competes, plays hard, and wins on the field and off.“Saying thank you is the hardest thing, because we just can’t thank people enough for how fantastic it has been here," said Nuxhall. Donzetta Nuxhall, the wife of Cincinnati Reds pitcher and long-time broadcaster Joe Nuxhall, passed away this week, days before the tenth-anniversary celebration. She was 93.
