Local Cantina opening in Rhinegeist, marking first Cincinnati location

Local Cantina, a Columbus-based Tex-Mex chain, is opening its first Greater Cincinnati location in Rhinegeist's Over-the-Rhine taproom Feb. 1.

A Columbus-based Tex-Mex chain is coming to Rhinegeist Brewery.

Local Cantina, known for its wide selection of tacos, burritos and bowls, is slated to open in Rhinegeist's Over-the-Rhine taproom Feb. 1. Although Local Cantina has over 10 locations across Columbus and Dayton, this will be the brand's first in Greater Cincinnati.

The new eatery will also be the first restaurant concept to open at Rhinegeist since OTR Chili announced its closure in April 2022.

“We are really excited for this partnership,” said Rhinegeist CEO Mike Parks in a statement. “Our customers want good food and good service, and frankly, we struggled with that in the past, but we have a strong operator with a great menu in Local Cantina. Let’s Eat!”

According to a press release, Local Cantina will offer a focused menu at the new Rhinegeist location. More details, including menu offerings, will be announced later.

Local Cantina's hours of operation will be from 3-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 9 p.m.
