A former Deer Park High School coach was arrested this week following accusations that he had an "inappropriate relationship" with a student, the school district said in a letter to families on Friday.
Andrew Geesner, 36, was indicted Jan. 19 on five counts of sexual battery, according to documents filed in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.
"When we were made aware of the allegations, we immediately contacted the Deer Park Police Department, who have acted swiftly and thoroughly on this case," Deer Park City Schools Superintendent Jay Phillips wrote.
"We will continue to work very closely with law enforcement, however, because this is a pending matter which involves a student, we are not able to provide any further details at this time," Phillips added.
Court documents state the incidents involving Geesner and the student occurred in June and December of last year. He was arrested Tuesday but has since posted bond, court records show.
Geesner pleaded not guilty during an arraignment this week, according to the court records.
"This investigation has been ongoing for the last several weeks," Brian Goldberg, Geesner's lawyer, said in an email to The Enquirer. "When he learned of the warrants he immediately turned himself in. He looks forward to being able to defend these allegations in court. "
The school district said counselors will be made available to students in need of support. Families are encouraged to contact the high school at 513-891-0010 to schedule a meeting with the school's counseling staff.
