The Kentucky Attorney General's Office will take over the prosecution of the man charged with killing a Scott County deputy last month.Steven Sheangshang is charged with the murder of Deputy Caleb Conley.The judge presiding over the case made the request for the state Attorney General's Office to take over the prosecution.Conley was killed May 22 during a traffic stop on I-75 in Georgetown. Conley had been with the Scott County Sheriff's Department for four years. Prior to that, he served his country for eight years in the United States Army.Sheangshang made his first in-person court appearance on Friday in a Fayette County courtroom.In court Friday, it was revealed that Sheangshang's girlfriend, Monica Hardin, was with him during the shooting and crime spree.Hardin is only facing charges in Clermont County. She is accused of stealing a 1971 Chevrolet El Camino just three days before the shooting.Court records show she admitted to going into the garage with Sheangshang and then following in another vehicle as the El Camino was driven to Cincinnati and sold.Hardin is being held in the Franklin County Detention Center on that grand theft charge.
