In the days following the devastating earthquake that struck regions of Turkey and Syria, organizations around Greater Cincinnati are looking to help.
The death toll has passed 11,000 in the two countries as of Wednesday after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and a series of violent aftershocks took place early Monday morning.

In response, the Cincinnati Turkish American Association is collecting items for donation, including:
- Winter clothing for adults and kids, all genders, including coats, boots, rain coats, pullovers, trousers, gloves, scarves, hats, socks and underwear.
- Tents, blankets, sleeping bags, thermoses.
- Flashlights and power banks.
- Baby food and diapers.
- Hygiene supplies, including women's hygiene products.
The organization is asking that items donated are either brand new or less used, clean and in excellent condition. The items should be donated in a box or clear bag, unsealed and with a note inside for the contents. They can be dropped off at Cafe Mediterranean in Hyde Park and Artemis Mediterranean Bistro in Montgomery.
Truva Turkish Kitchen in Sycamore Township is also accepting donations of winter clothes, coats, gloves, boots, scarves, underwear, blankets and power banks.
Those can be dropped off at the restaurant, located on 8060 Montgomery Road.
Matthew 25: Ministries is also collecting both monetary and product donations. The Blue Ash-based organization is collecting the following physical items:
- Cases of bottled water, 12 and 24 count.
- Personal care products, including antibacterial soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, deodorant and lotion.
- Cleaning supplies, including laundry detergents, general cleaner, sponges, bleach (powdered form preferred), mops, scrub brushes, buckets and rubber gloves.
- Paper products, including toilet paper and paper towels.
- Baby and infant supplies, including diapers, wipes, diaper rash ointment, baby wash, baby shampoo and baby lotion.
- First aid items, including bandages, gauze, pads, first aid tape, antiseptic creams, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, latex gloves and instant cold packs.
- Candles and flashlights. Matthew 25: Ministries asks to include the appropriate size batteries with flashlights if necessary.
- Cleanup supplies, including protective eyewear, work gloves and trash bags.
You can donate money through Matthew 25: Ministries' website or by mailing checks to Matthew 25: Ministries, 11060 Kenwood Road, Blue Ash, OH 45242. The organization says 100% of donated funds designated for the earthquake will be used for earthquake relief.
