The Cadbury Bunny Tryouts have returned for a 5th year of its "rescue pets edition," in which pets compete for a chance to claim those famous rabbit ears and appear in the company's Easter commercial.
The top 10 finalists have been announced, with Bodhi, a 3-year-old Lionhead bunny from Pepper Pike, near Cleveland, among them.
Bodhi was rescued from a rehabilitation center after not being fed for a year, and one of his ears had been cut off. Now in a happy home, Bodhi spends his free time eating bananas and carrots, snuggling, taking naps and giving kisses.
Bodhi was selected among thousands of entries for the contest, which awards a cash prize of $5,000 and another $5,000 for the shelter of his owner's choice. Additionally, the winner will be featured in the Cadbury Clucking Bunny Easter commercial this spring.
"Over the years, we've received tens of thousands of submissions for the Cadbury Bunny Tryouts, and year five entries did not disappoint—they were unique and full of heartwarming stories about the rescue pets who fill their homes with joy," said Cam Bogie, senior associate brand manager for Cadbury, in a press release.
The competition includes a variety of rescue animals, including dogs, cats, Guinea pigs and even horses.
Last year's winner, a therapy dog named Annie Rose, was from Ohio.
Voting for the winner is open through March 14, and votes can be cast once a day at cadburytryouts.com/vote.
The winner will be announced on March 21.
