Many students around the Tri-State are celebrating their high school graduation but three students in northern Kentucky have an extra reason to celebrate.Triplets Aidan, Jakob and Reed Staley all walked across the stage in May at Simon Kenton High School’s graduation, but it wasn't their first graduation.The triplets also graduated from Northern Kentucky University earlier that month with their Associates Degrees.The three boys are part of the Young Scholars Academy at NKU. The program is made up of 268 students from 11 different schools in the region. Students in the program finish their high school credits on NKU’s campus while also working towards an Associate’s Degree, earning up to 60 college credits before high school graduation.“YSA is truly a team effort. Since our inception in 2020, more than 400 scholars, many of them first-generation college students, have experienced the transition to college with the support of their high school communities, their families and NKU’s faculty and staff. These scholars’ success is a result of their hard work, but also a tribute to the region’s commitment to access and support of higher education," Amy Dempsey, regional director of the Young Scholars Academy, said in a statement. Two of the three triplets are enrolled in NKU in the fall to continue their studies. Aidan wants to be a lawyer, Reed is going to study computer science and Jakob wants to go into sports broadcasting.
