Cold and snowy start to Sunday
A winter weather advisory is in place this Sunday morning. Wet snow will cause minor accumulation and impacts.
RECOVERY WILL TAKE A LONG TIME. THAT’S A LOT OF WATER THERE. YEAH, THEY THEY JUST CANNOT CATCH A BREAK. I KNOW ONE STORM AFTER THE OTHER. MOISTURE. YEAH, IT’S TERRIBLE. IT’S A LOT GOING ON THERE. SPEAKING WEATHER HERE. WE’RE GOING TO SEE WINTER WEATHER MOVE THROUGH TODAY AND INTO TOMORROW. WHAT TIME ARE WE EXPECTING? I KNOW EVERYONE’S NOT SEEING THAT SNOW, BUT IT IS OUT THERE. YEAH, WE’LL HAVE TIMES OF WET SNOW THIS MORNING. WE COULD SEE SOME MODERATE LOCALLY HEAVY BANDS AT TIMES. BUT THAT’S GOING TO BE COMING THROUGH THROUGH THE MID MORNING HOURS. AND THEN WE’RE GOING TO START TO DRY THINGS OUT. I’VE GOT SOUTH DEARBORN CAMERA I PULLED UP HERE. AND IF YOU LOOK TOWARDS THE LIGHTS THERE IN THE PRACTICE FIELDS, YOU CAN SEE THE SNOW REALLY COMING DOWN OUT OF THAT DIRECTION THIS MORNING. NOT EVERYBODY WAKING UP TO SNOW, BUT WHERE IT IS FALLING, IT’S COMING DOWN AT A PRETTY GOOD CLIP AND IT IS GOING TO MAKE THINGS PRETTY SOGGY AS WE START OUT YOUR SUNDAY. OUR RADAR SHOWING A VERY ACTIVE SCENE ACROSS THE REGION. GOT A LITTLE AREA OF CLEARING, AT LEAST DRY SKIES FROM CRITTENDON UP TOWARDS WILMINGTON. BUT ANYWHERE YOU’RE SEEING BLUE ON THE MAP, THAT’S WHERE THE SNOW IS COMING DOWN THIS MORNING. SO, AGAIN, PRIMARILY A WET SNOWFALL HERE TODAY. JUST DUE TO THOSE TEMPERATURES ABOVE FREEZING THROUGH HAMILTON COUNTY ACROSS THE NORTHWEST CORNER HERE FROM QUEENS TO ADDISON CHEVIOT, COOL RAIN FOREST PARK, WE’VE GOT STEADY MODERATE SNOWFALL. WHAT’S UP AS YOU HEAD OUT TOWARDS NORWOOD AND POINTS EAST OF THAT. BUT SNOW MOVING TO THE EAST SO THAT WILL OVERTAKE FOLKS IN EASTERN HAMILTON COUNTY HERE SHORTLY. RADAR HERE UP TO THE NORTH AND FRANKLIN COUNTY, SOME SCATTERED LIGHT SNOW FROM CONNERSVILLE TO LIBERTY AS FAR SOUTH AS BROOKVILLE AND THEN POINTS EAST INTO BUTLER AND WARREN COUNTY. WE’VE GOT STEADIER SNOW BANDS FROM RILEY UP TO OXFORD, FAIRFIELD, MONROE, MASON, LEBANON, MAINE, VELMA ROW AND WAYNESVILLE. AND WHERE WE’RE SEEING THE DARKER BLUES, THAT’S WHERE SNOW’S FALLING LITTLE BIT HEAVIER THIS MORNING. IT’S NOT TERRIBLY HEAVY, BUT DEFINITELY STEADIER THAN WHAT WE’RE SEEING ELSEWHERE. THEN ACROSS RIPLEY IN DEARBORN COUNTY, SOME STEADY LIGHT SNOWFALL THIS MORNING. THAT’LL CONTINUE SOUTH INTO OHIO AND SWITZERLAND. COUNTY, SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS, LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THE 7175 SPLIT AREA ALL THE WAY OUT TOWARDS BROOKSVILLE, KENTUCKY. AND THEN WE’VE GOT SOME ONGOING LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS FROM HILLSBOROUGH TO PEEBLES THIS MORNING. A LITTLE BIT OF A BREAK, THOUGH, AS YOU HEAD BACK TOWARDS WINCHESTER MOUNT OR A SO A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN PLACE UNTIL NOON TODAY. IT INCLUDES ALL OF OUR PURPLE COUNTIES. THIS IS WHERE WE’RE GOING TO BE SEEING THE BEST CHANCE FOR THOSE HIGHER SNOW TOTALS, ANYWHERE FROM ABOUT 1 TO 2 INCHES OF SOME SLUSHY ACCUMULATION. AND WE WILL SEE ACCUMULATING SNOW IN POINTS EAST. BUT I WOULD SAY BEST CHANCE OF SOME ISOLATED SLICK TRAVEL. A LITTLE BIT MORE SNOWFALL THAN WHAT WE’RE SEEING ELSEWHERE. WE’LL BE WITHIN THIS WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ZONE TODAY. SO YOUR FORECAST TODAY BRINGS A HIGH OF 38. WE’LL HAVE MORNING SNOW AND THAT’S GOING TO TRANSITION OVER INTO SOME EVENING SPRINKLES. JUST PLAIN OLD RAIN HERE THIS AFTERNOON, BUT OVERALL, A CHILLY DAY. YOU CAN SEE FUTURE CARS SHOWING THE SNOW STARTING TO TAPER OFF BY ABOUT SEVEN. ANYTHING THAT FOLLOWS THAT’S GOING TO BE JUST BE HIT AND MISS SNOW SHOWERS. SO BETWEEN NINE AND NOON, SOME SPOTTY SNOW SHOWERS, REALLY JUST FLURRIES BY THE TIME LUNCH TIME ROLLS AROUND AND FAIRLY CLOUDY WITH THOSE ISOLATED SPRINKLES AS YOU HEAD TOWARDS SUNDAY MADE BY MIDNIGHT. WE’RE LOOKING AT AN ADDITIONAL ROUND OF MOISTURE TO COME INTO THE AREA. SO WHEN THIS IS ALL SAID AND DONE, I WOULD SAY ABOUT A SLUSHY TRACE TO TWO INCHES FOR MOST FOLKS HERE WITHIN THE BLUE BAND SHE HAD SOUTH OF THE 7175 SPLIT, A COATING ON SOME OF THOSE GRASSY SURFACES, JUST WET CONDITIONS. THEN FOR TONIGHT, WE GET 34. THE LOW START OUT OF A WINTRY MIX, AND WE’LL SEE THAT TRANSITION OVER INTO SOME SNOW SHOWERS. SO TOMORROW BRINGS ADDITIONAL SNOW SHOWERS. MAY HAVE A QUICK DUSTING OUT OF SOME OF THOSE HIGHS OF ABOUT 38 AND IT WILL BE BREEZY TOMORROW. SO A BIG FEATURE CAST UP AT MIDNIGHT ON MONDAY. CAN SEE RAIN AND SNOW COMING IN SOMETIME BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND TWO. TEMPERATURES START TO DROP THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. THIS IS GOING TO TRANSITION OVER INTO SOME LIGHT SNOW. SO FOR THE MORNING COMMUTE, I WOULD SAY SOME LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS BETWEEN SIX AND SEVEN, MAYBE AS LATE AS EIGHT. BY 9:00, WE SHOULD BE UNDER DRY SKIES AND THEN SOME ADDITIONAL AFTERNOON LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS POSSIBLE HERE. SO BETWEEN NOON AND THREE, NOTICING SOME SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THE REGION. I THINK THOSE LINGER THROUGH ABOUT 6:00 ON MONDAY BEFORE WE START TO DRY THINGS OUT A BIT INTO TUESDAY. TUESDAY COULD BRING A FEW MORNING FLURRIES, BUT MOST OF US HERE LOOKING CLOUDY AND COLD WITH HIGHS OF ABOUT 36. UPPER 40 TO UPPER FIFTY’S WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY AND THEN SAINT PATRICK’S DAY. WE’VE GOT A WEATHER IMPACT IN PLACE. 55 DEGREES, RAIN. LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF RAIN. THIS POTENTIALLY COULD CHANGE OVER TO A WINTRY MIX ON SATURDAY. MODELS SPLIT ON WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN INTO EARLY NEXT WEEKEND. WE HAVE A CHANCE AND RIGHT NOW, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOING TO GET COLD AGAIN AFT
