A devoted Christian and family man is how William Dunson’s loved ones are remembering him tonight. He was killed Friday morning in a crash with a police officer outside a Kroger in North College Hill. “He was coming home. He was on his way home do you understand that,” William’s wife, Erica Dunson said. A father, brother and son, family members say was taken too soon. “I don't know what tomorrow holds or the next day or the next second holds, but he loved me. He loved me,” Dunson said.Dunson was in the middle of his normal routine. He was leaving Kroger Friday night when a Springfield Township police officer’s vehicle and his car collided. Dunson and officer Tim Unwin both died.“I understand that this is a hard thing for everybody out here,” family member, Jacquie Nixon said.His community is grappling with the pain and feeling his loss immensely. “Love your family, protect your family because you never know what the next day is going to hold,” William’s best friend, Corey Smith said. Releasing balloons and holding each other tight, they know he’s at peace even though there are still many questions and little answers. “He wasn't just a civilian. He wasn't just a person coming from Kroger . His name was William Kenneth Dunson. That's what we want to be remembered,” Nixon said.
