After initially announcing plans to close earlier this year then later reversing and reopening, Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey's flagship Pendleton location has changed course again and closed.
In January, the Pendleton location had originally planned to close, but reopened after chef Christian Gill posted on social media that the "outpouring of love and support from the community has been overwhelming and we are taking another shot to save the biscuits that Christian and PJ worked so hard to bring to downtown Cincinnati."
The building's landlord is Model Group, and Matt Reckman, vice president of property management, said the restaurant is already closed and they are actively searching to fill the space.
Model Group met with the restaurant in January after the initial closure decision to work with it on ways to continue, Reckman said, which included looking at a trial run and changing a few things.
The trial run did not go according to plan, according to Reckman. And after a recent power outage in the building and plumbing backup, the restaurant is now closed.
Neither Gill nor Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey's social media pages have announced the closure. Over the weekend, a sign was posted on the restaurant's door noting a closure due to the plumbing issue.
The other location in Union will remain open.
Gill nor the restaurant immediately responded to request for comment.

Gill took over ownership of Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey in January 2020, after the death of his friend and former owner PJ Neumann. With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic that same year, Boomtown was forced to close down, giving away food to staff and the local firehouse and freezing the rest, before eventually reopening in June with a revamped menu.
Gill has also recently appeared on several shows on the Food Network. Earlier in July, he appeared on "Beat Bobby Flay" and is still appearing weekly on "Guy's Grocery Games" Summer Games. In 2019, he won the Food Network's "Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge," walking away with a $25,000 prize.
