Ohio bans wagers, ESPN reports

The state of Ohio has instructed its legal sportsbooks to stop accepting bets on Alabama baseball, according to a report from ESPN published Monday night.

According to the report, Ohio Casino Control Commission executive director Matthew T. Shuler issued a directive banning "the acceptance of any wagers on University of Alabama baseball effective immediately." ESPN also reported that independent integrity monitors alerted sportsbooks to suspicious activity involving Friday's game against LSU, where the Crimson Tide lost, 8-6.

The Tigers held a seven-run lead late in Friday's contest, but Alabama rallied for five runs in the final two innings, including four with two outs in the ninth. LSU would also win Saturday's game, 12-8, and completed the sweep with a 13-11 win on Sunday. The Crimson Tide won four straight before Friday.
