Friends and family gathering to remember 21-year-old Dan Likiko


It's been a difficult week for the Florence community after a 21-year-old man was killed. Dan Likiko was killed around the corner from his home last Saturday.This Saturday night, his loved ones honored his memory. "I want everyone to remember Dan as a loving person. He was really sweet," Dan's brother, Romuald Likiko said.Through songs, tears, and heartbreak, this community is honoring Dan and keeping his memory alive. "He did have a really bright future, and it was taken away," Dan's friend, Justin Jutzi, said.He touched many lives from the soccer field to singing his favorite songs. His family says his spirit was strong. Dan's life was cut short last Saturday night when he was shot and killed around the corner from his home. One week later, there's still glass from his car window at the scene."I never imagine putting my brother's picture on this, like having people wear my brother like this and saying RIP. It never crossed my mind before," Romuald said.The man accused of killing Dan is 38-year-old Wayne Haggard. He's charged with murder.This vigil is a moment for reflection and the start of an unwanted beginning for this group of people that loved Dan so much. "It's not the same in the house no more because he brought a different kind of energy and a different vibe in the house, and so it's sad to see it's gone," Romuald said.
