Former Cincinnati tight end Josh Whyle has been drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.Whyle is the third Bearcat off the board this draft, joining wide receivers Tre Tucker, selected by Las Vegas in the third round, and Tyler Scott, who was picked by Chicago in the fourth round.A Cincinnati native, Whyle caught 88 passes in his four-year Bearcat career, totaling 1,062 yards and 15 touchdowns.Whyle's career year came in 2021, when he caught 26 balls for 332 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 12.8 yards per reception, also a career best.Last year, Whyle caught more passes - 32 - for 326 yards and three touchdowns.Whyle's 32 catchers were behind only Tyler Scott and Tre Tucker, XXX. His three touchdowns were only behind Scott's nine and was tied with Tucker for second-most among all Bearcats in 2022.A three-star prospect out of high school, Whyle was ranked as one of the top 10 tight ends in the 2018 recruiting class and one of the top 15 players in Ohio. He helped lead his La Salle teams to a combined 50-8 record, with three OHSAA Division II titles.
