A man has been charged after officials said he aimed a gun at officers and fired a shot during a standoff in Highland County Thursday. It happened around 11:41 a.m. when the Highland County Sheriff's Office was executing a search warrant in Dodson Township.The sheriff's office said after there was no answer at the door, deputies attempted to enter the home when they were confronted by a man with a gun.The sheriff's office said the man, identified as Christopher Colvin, 58, fired a round toward deputies who were working to take cover.That's when the Highland County Sheriff's Special Response Team and Clermont County Sheriff's Office were called in to help and nearby Lynchburg Schools was placed on a temporary lockdown.The sheriff's office said Colvin would go out the back door and aim a weapon at deputies. Deputies fired non-lethal weapons toward Colvin, and that's when he aimed a weapon at a deputy and a shot was fired. He then ran back inside the home.After deputies got inside the home, they found Colvin hiding in the attic. Deputies then fired more non-lethal rounds from a vehicle.After several hours, Colvin was taken into custody and later charged with felonious assault. Officials said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations has been called in to investigate.
