A Blue Ash police officer is being praised for helping rescue a missing child from a pond over the weekend.It happened on Sunday around 4 p.m. when Blue Ash police got a report of a missing six-year-old who is autistic and non-verbal.Watch body camera video of the rescue in the video player aboveBlue Ash officers, along with officers from Montgomery and Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies, teamed up to search for the child. They also used a drone to help try to locate the child.That day, a sheriff's deputy called out on the radio saying he saw the child in a pond near the 1100 block of Deerfield Road. Blue Ash Police Officer Tim Bittner responded to the pond and spotted the girl who was waist-deep in the water.Bittner tried calling out to her, but she didn't respond and was continuing to walk deeper into the pond.That's when Bittner took off his gear and got into the water to help rescue her.Police said the child was returned safely to her parents uninjured.
