Saturday is the home opener for FC Cincinnati. The team will face DC United at TQL stadium.Last year crowd capacities were limited due to COVID-19, but this year is a bit of a reset, team plexiglass barriers are down and the stadium is welcoming up to 26,000 fans. FC Cincinnati’s co-CEO Jeff Berding said the new head coach and general manger represents a turning of the page. He is hoping for a successful season. "The team has really come together, we're going to fight to represent, when you come to the stadium for FC Cincinnati, you expect a high energy match. Obviously The Bailey, the smoke, the chants, the cheers, the drums, and for two hours, a lot of intense action,” Berding said. As the game returns to TQL Stadium this weekend, the pre-game experience returns to Washington Park. For the second consecutive year, FC Cincinnati fans of all ages are invited to pump up, fuel up and wear their orange and blue with pride before every 2022 season home game at FC Cincinnati Pre-Match at the Park. “We are excited to once again offer our fans a great pre-match experience near the stadium,” said Bobby Straka, the FC Cincinnati marketing director. “We look forward to our first match back at TQL Stadium and for those attending in-person or watching remotely, a visit to Washington Park will be a perfect way to start their match day experience.” The first pre-match event of the season takes place March 5 when the team hosts D.C. United for the home opening match at TQL Stadium. Family-friendly festivities kick off at 3 p.m. and will include soccer activations and games throughout the park, face painting, a balloon artist, themed ice carvings and a live set from local band, The Naked Karate Girls.Seats are still available for Saturday’s game.
