Last month, Pro Football Focus predicted that free-agent center Ryan Jensen, who has played the past four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after spending the previous four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, would sign a three-year, $39 million deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Former Bengals defensive back and kick returner Adam "Pacman" Jones said on the "Bleav in Bengals" podcast with fellow former Bengal Solomon Wilcots that he heard the Bengals are "gonna sign" Jensen, who will be an unrestricted free agent.
"I got some great news for you," Jones said. "A little birdie said that (the Bengals are) gonna sign Ryan Jensen to a three-year deal for $39 million, which would be a starting center. I hope it goes through. It sounds like the little birdie is saying it's almost a done deal."
PFF.com's Arjun Menon on Jensen:
Jensen will be the most sought-after center on the market this free agency period. He has experience playing in multiple schemes (Ravens, Bucs) and has been durable, playing over 1,000 snaps in each of the last five seasons. He’s always graded out better as a run-blocker than a pass-blocker in his career, posting three straight campaigns with a 73.0-plus run-blocking grade.
The Bengals need to allocate cap space to the offensive line, and Jensen would be a great start. He’d be an upgrade over Trey Hopkins (51.4 PFF grade in 2021) and would give Joe Burrow a trusted veteran to take snaps from. We’ve seen this type of move have a positive impact on Justin Herbert (with Corey Linsley) and Kyler Murray (with Rodney Hudson).
Jensen, 30, hasn't missed a start in the past five NFL seasons.
