The U.S. Soccer Federation on Monday joined a chorus of soccer federations and governing bodies from around the world in condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
In denouncing the invasion, U.S. Soccer aligned itself with a growing list of federations refusing to play Russia.
U.S. Soccer, which twice called Cincinnati's TQL Stadium home in 2021 for two separate matches, released the following statement: "The U.S. Soccer Federations stands united with the people of Ukraine and is unequivocal in our denunciation of the heinous and inhumane invasion by Russia.

"We will neither tarnish the global game nor dishonor Ukraine by taking the same field as Russia, no matter the level of competition or circumstance, until freedom and peace have been restored."
Monday also saw FIFA, world soccer's governing body, and UEFA, the governing body of soccer in Europe, suspend Russian clubs and national teams from all competitions.
"Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine," FIFA and UEFA said in a joint statement.
U.S. Soccer staged two events at TQL Stadium in 2021.
The reigning world-champion U.S. women's national team trounced Paraguay in a September international friendly.
In November, the American men defeated Mexico in a qualifier for this year's FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The qualifying matches for the Americans end in March.
