Former Mount St. Joseph's women's basketball player Lauren Hill, who wore No. 22 for the Lions, had the Lauren Hill Memorial Park dedicated Tuesday in honor of her and the date - 2/22/22 - in Hill's hometown of Greendale, Ind.
The park is scheduled to open April 22, per a tweet from "the group dedicated to building the park in Hill's memory."
Hill died in 2015 at age 19 after a battle with an inoperable brain tumor. Hill was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma shortly after her 18th birthday. She received the Pat Summit Courage Award for her fight against cancer days before she died.

The #Layup4Lauren initiative benefited The Cure Starts Now, a charity that has raised more than $2.5 million for cancer research. MSJ's Forever 22 Scholarship was named for Hill's jersey number.
ESPN's "SC Featured - Lauren Hill: One More Game' was nominated for a Sports Emmy in the category of Outstanding Long Feature.
