Fire department donates bikes to children who lost theirs in fire

A local fire department brought smiles to three children's faces after gifting them with bicycles after they lost theirs in a garage fire.On Feb. 5, the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District responded to a garage fire in the area of State Route 350 and State Route 730. When crews arrived at the scene, they found flames coming from a large detached garage.Crews extinguished the fire but the garage and the items inside were a total loss.The property owner told firefighters that there were many personal items of his children's inside the garage. He said he has just bought all three of his children bikes for Christmas and they hadn't had much good weather yet to get out and enjoy them.The Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District said they did not want the three children to go without bikes this summer. Members of the department gathered money and were able to surprise the children with brand new bikes."Have fun guys and gals! Enjoy your bikes! They look fun!" the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District wrote on Facebook Wednesday.
