Xavier women’s basketball dismisses 2 players for violating team rules

Xavier University's women's basketball team dismissed its top two scorers from the team last week for a violation of team rules. 

"Xavier head women's basketball coach Melanie Moore announced on Tuesday, Feb. 15, that Nia Clark and Kae Satterfield were officially dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules," the school said in a statement. Xavier did not specify which rules.

Clark, who transferred to Xavier from Miami University, started in 14 games and was Xavier's leading scorer with 11.7 points per game.

Satterfield, an Ohio State transfer, started in 19 games and was the Musketeers' second-leading scorer at 11.0 points per game. 

Xavier's 9-17 overall this season and 4-13 in the Big East Conference. The Musketeers beat Butler Sunday 73-54 behind a 15-point, 9-rebound performance from Ayanna Townsend, a redshirt junior forward. Xavier is back in action Friday against Georgetown.
