Planning a last minute trip to the Super Bowl? Ticket prices are dropping
ready for the region to brag about how extraordinary we are and the excitement, the potential, the hope that we're feeling right now. This Bengals team has galvanized the city and the region like nothing else I've ever seen. And they are so emblematic of who we are as a city. They've got that Cincinnati swagger. They are young, they are bold, they are diverse, they've got ambition, they are confident and that's exactly what represents Cincinnati so well. We have so many things going for us. We are on the national context, very affordable. We have incredible institutions like Procter and Gamble Ge Aviation Kroger, we have world class arts, world class parks. We've got the third best Children's hospital in the world, the best public high school in the state we can do and accomplish anything. And I'm so excited that the rest of the world, that the rest of the country is starting to recognize that through the Bengals, I'm here for one purpose only and it is to brag about our city to the world media. I've got, I am booked up from now through the game talking to any outlet that will talk to me. I talked to TMZ sports people. I mean I talked to, I talked to a sports radio program called, pardon my take, I will, I will go and talk to anybody about how passionate I am about our Tri state region. And the fact of the matter is we are the world headquarters of sports With our Cincinnati Bear cats making it to the college football playoff with are the future home of the Super Bowl champion Cincinnati. Bengals were a finalist to host the World Cup in a few years. There's no place like Cincinnati right now. And and look, the last time the Bengals were won a playoff game was 31 years ago. The last time they were in the Super Bowl was 1988, I was six years old. This is this is no longer your grandparents Cincinnati, This is no longer your grandparents Bengals. We are not just happy to be here. We belong here and we're gonna be here on the national stage for a very long time. So with that high school coach, pep talk, I will I will take your questions. First of all. You need to know that TMZ Sports breaks all the stories. Fair enough. That sounds good. This doesn't happen all the time. Just so you know. Yeah, you just walk in and then Super Bowl. Yeah, they are undefeated under my administration. So. Okay, Yeah. Was there a question? I just tried to get a soundbite there and I think you provided. Ok, happy to oblige. Yeah, absolutely. Mr mayor onto the important matters of this week. I think that's what we are in negotiations with the Mayor of Los Angeles. I've been, I've been, you know, trying to brainstorm with folks. Getting some good ideas. I've got two good ideas so far. One is to change the name of the city to L. O. S. S. Angeles for 24 hours when we win, another is to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Bengals honor with the with the score of the game. And and I'm look everybody's rooting for the Bengals. I mean you know, rob Lowe and some random people are rooting for the rams but we are America's team, we are a team of Destiny. And I'm trying to I'm trying to get other mayors from around the country to be on the Bengals bandwagon. I just tweeted before I I left this afternoon I tweeted at eric Adams the mayor of new york city asking him to jump on the bandwagon and rename his five boroughs of the job boroughs of new york city. So I don't think he's responded yet. But um but I'm feeling good about our chances and and we'll be we'll be announcing our bet. I think, I think tomorrow one thing you're gonna notice here is there's not a lot of apathy when it comes to sports, they've lost teams before and because they went away to ST louis and won a championship the second year away. There's a lot of bad blood still with fans not accepting them back. I'm proud of you. That in Cincinnati you have that feeling where everybody just wraps this team up in their arms. You walk around the streets of L. A. They don't even know there's a game going on. Yeah. I mean I think they had 100 and 50 people show up at their pep rally, we had 30,000. Um you know, people keep asking me are Bengals fans gonna show up? I think we'll have more fans than than the rams will have in their own home stadium. That's that's how passionate our fans are. You know, look, I think a lot of this has to do with the Brown family, has to do with with the Bengals and their commitment to our community. Just anecdotally. Um the Bengals, we're very generous and gave me and gave the city, not me gave the city a game used game ball from the playoff victory over the Raiders. And guys, I take this thing pretty much I didn't bring it here because I was afraid of losing it. But I take this thing everywhere with me because people want to be close to that greatness. They wanna they wanna they wanna see the football. So I took it to the recent taft versus Woodward High school basketball game and all the kids were around me wanting to take pictures with the football and then in walks Tyler board and tee Higgins into the gym. No, no paparazzi. No, no pr just two guys wanted to take in a high school basketball game and they couldn't have been more generous with their time hanging out with the kids, talking to the parents, taking pictures, signing autographs and that really is emblematic of the community spirit and the prioritization of the community from the Bengals and from the brown family. And I think that has a lot to do with why we're so passionate about this team and this organization, you call this a golden opportunity. Obviously you're here than for more than sports. Do you have like a tangible goal of that coming out of here is that is bringing X number of businesses are making X number of business contacts. What is that? Yeah, this is a business trip. And you can see by this extraordinary coordination between all of the various partners, the city, the county, all of our private and pseudo governmental organizations like the chamber already etcetera. We've been working collaboratively and immediately very quickly to put together this, this agenda, this program, this campaign, we've got assets uh that our digital, we've got assets and a lot of different mediums. I know we've bought some time in the, in the Chicago market uh, and and are are tangible goal is to tell our story, is to define our brand, is to tell people how young and diverse and dense we are that we are the future of this country brag about all the things that that makes Cincinnati unique. You know, look, we are in a we're in a challenging time, you know, despite the optimism and the hope that the Bengals have brought to us the pandemic has fundamentally changed the way that we work live and play. And remote workers are a golden opportunity for Cincinnati to be a destination for them to choose if you can live and work anywhere. I want you to choose Cincinnati and we're here to make that case. Are you meeting with any business leaders here? Yeah, I'm I'm Mayor Garcetti and I are are having dinner with the owner of the Rams. I know that ready is meeting with several business leaders as well. Trying to tell our story and bring business to Cincinnati Mr Mayor. We know that 30001st of all that vest is extraordinary. Ru on ru on camera from Good for you, good for you. So we know that there were 30,000 at the pep rally. What does Cincinnati look like following a Super Bowl championship? What's that parade look like? What is it going to be like in the city? Yeah, I mean it's gonna be a massive celebration. Um We have been working very hard with our county leaders with with the chamber and others to create opportunities. Starting monday at that pep rally through the week. Certainly thursday, friday saturday and sunday outdoor tailgates. Watch parties from findlay market all the way to Newport on the Levee. We're taking that same collaboration and work towards the Super Bowl parade. I've I've made some some headlines about my confidence in our Bengals. Uh and the fact that we're already planning the parade and that's true. I we're working with the NFL and the Bengals and they're in the driver's seat on this. So I don't have any specifics to, to share on dates, but you can expect it to be early next week and it will largely follow the same path as opening day. I can't remember which national outlets asked me this, but they were like, oh, you know, have you reached out to other cities that have had parades before? I was like, we know how to throw a parade guys like we, have you seen our opening day? It's extraordinary. So I'm confident that Cincinnati will come out and it'll be well planned. Have you met with Mike Brown? I have met with Katie uh several times. The Bengals have been incredibly generous um have been really collaborative with our city with not only providing opportunities to tell our story, but also provide opportunities to celebrate with our fans. And I've been primarily working with Katie. Did you offer her any advice on winning? No gosh, no, no, no, no. I stay in my lane Sherry. I am, I am, I am here to sell Cincinnati and I'll let them deal with the football Mr Mayor if the Bengals, you will host. It's a huge deal. Mhm. Last involved in terms of concerts, we're in every, it would be uh an opportunity not unlike the Major League Baseball All Star game um to, to show to the world that we are uh we are forced to be reckoned with. We are a national destination and it would be even more of a resume builder for our argument to be a host city for the World Cup. So it would be, it would be an extraordinary opportunity. He hated sport. If you start practicing your first picture, I'm sneaking athletic, I'm gonna put it out there. Um, so I'm, I'm, I'm confident that I'll be able to handle that, but I haven't started practicing. Thank you. Okay. Thanks guys, appreciate it today.
