There has been a change of plans for one prominent member of the Withrow Tigers football team.
Senior Kush'i Abraham, listed as a running back and a safety, switched his commitment from Ashland University and to the U.S. Naval Academy.
Withrow head coach Kali Jones confirmed the change to The Enquirer.
Abraham pulled down three interceptions for the Tigers in just seven games as a junior during the abbreviated 2020 campaign. Last season, Abraham had two picks and recovered a fumble, helping lead a defense that gave up the fewest points (55) in the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference in more than 15 years.
Withrow posted six shutouts in 11 games and won the program's first playoff game in 102 years with a 29-7 first-round win over Troy in the OHSAA Division II regional tournament. Withrow nearly pulled off an upset of top-seeded Piqua in the second round, falling 17-13.
Offensively, Abraham saw time at quarterback, going 6-of-12 for 54 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, he averaged 7.9 yards-per-carry and ran for 126 and a touchdown in Withrow's 25-0 win over Trotwood-Madison in Week 5.
