BEIJING — Since leaving ESPN at the end of September, Katie Nolan has not been much of a presence in sports media – until now.
NBC announced Thursday that Nolan would produce daily, short-form content for its digital and linear properties throughout the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
“I always dreamed I’d go to the Olympics one day,” Nolan said in a release. “Technically in the dream I was winning gold for Team USA, but I’m thrilled at the chance to win one with Team NBC Olympics. We get medals for this, right?”
At ESPN, Nolan hosted the sports-comedy digital show "Always Late," which was canceled in 2020, she said. Nolan stayed with the company for another year and participated in other digital platform shows until her departure four months ago.
Prior to ESPN, Nolan worked for Fox Sports. Her weekly show "Garbage Time" won a sports Emmy Award in 2016.
Funny enough, this isn't Nolan's first Olympics experience. She won a junior Olympics gold medal in rhythmic gymnastics as a 10-year-old in 1997.
