In a vote that ended Feb. 4, Cincinnati.com readers selected the Cincinnati Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Mercy Health, from high school sports action through Jan. 30.
Winners through the end of 2021 should have received a certificate through the school's athletic department.

The week's winners are:
Ohio boys basketball team (tie): Clermont Northeastern – The Rockets moved to 9-1 in SBC play after beating East Clinton and Williamsburg.
Ohio boys basketball team (tie): Sycamore – Sycamore is now 14-2 after beating Lakota West 48-39 on Jan. 25 before beating Lakota East 69-54 three days later.
Ohio girls basketball team: Talawanda – Talawanda went 4-0 over last week to improve to 16-2. The Braves beat Eaton, Northwest, Badin and Mount Healthy.
Northern Kentucky boys basketball team (tie): Conner – After a series with Indiana programs, Conner returned to intra-state play by beating Beechwood 81-62.
Northern Kentucky boys basketball team (tie): Highlands – The Bluebirds nearly put up two identical performances, beating Bishop Brossart 94-61 before a 91-61 victory at Boone County.
Northern Kentucky girls basketball team: Simon Kenton – Simon Kenton beat Boone County 65-22 and Ludlow 58-51 and are winners of four of its last five games.
Boys winter team of the week: Talawanda swimming – The Braves clinched the SWOC title, scoring 193 points to edge runner-up Ross’ 182 points.
Girls winter team of the week: Talawanda swimming – Talawanda cruised to a championship in the SWOC meet, scoring 250 points to win by over 100 points against runner-up Ross.
Ohio boys basketball big school player: Jesse Thompson, Edgewood – He had 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists in Edgewood’s 62-44 win over Ross Jan. 28.
Ohio boys basketball small school player: Mason Winchester, Norwood – He had 13 points, six rebounds and six assists in Norwood’s 67-61 win over New Miami Jan. 29.
Ohio girls basketball big school player: Avery Mather, Sycamore – She had 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in Sycamore’s 63-24 win over Hamilton Jan. 26.
Ohio girls basketball small school player: Karis Thomas, Clark Montessori – The junior had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals in Clark Montessori’s win over New Miami Jan. 29.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball player: Brayden Howell, Scott – He averaged 18.5 points in two Eagles games last week, including a win over Boone County.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball player: Autumn Ponder, Scott – In a win over Holmes, she hit eight 3-pointers on her way to a career-high 27 points.
Ohio boys bowler (tie): Nathan Schroer, Elder – He bowled a 489 (244, 245) in the 2,768-2,190 win over Moeller Jan. 27.
Ohio boys bowler (tie): Ryan Rouse, Hamilton – He bowled a 529 (298, 231) in the 2,828-2,819 win over Mason Jan. 28.
Ohio girls bowler: Payton Beard, St. Ursula Academy – The sophomore led the Bulldogs to two GGCL conference wins this week. Her 401 series against Mount Notre Dame and a 433 series against Mercy McAuley moved SUA to a 9 - 3 record (6 - 1 in the conference). Payton is currently in 4th place for average in the GGCL (177.5).
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys bowler: Dylan Inyart, Ryle - On Jan. 24, he placed second in the Regional 6 individual bowling tournament and is advancing to state. His average is 200.57, bowling 216 for the tournament.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls bowler: Izzy Sears, Boone County – She finished third in the Region 6 singles championship and advanced to the state tournament.
Boys swimmer/diver: Gavin Hang, St. Xavier – The diver placed first Jan. 29 in the GCL diving portion of the league championship with a 238.5 score.
Girls swimmer/diver: Jillian Ruffner, Mount Notre Dame – The senior won the 100 freestyle at the Greater Catholic League DI Swimming and Diving Championships Jan. 26-29.
Ohio boys wrestling: Luke Marsh, Lebanon – The senior got a record-setting 138th win by pin over Ryle, surpassing 1993 graduate Shawn Enright’s school record.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys wrestling: Corbin Walston, Lawrenceburg – He won the championship at 152 pounds in the IHSAA sectional tournament at South Dearborn, winning all three matches by fall and improving his record to 39-0.
Girls wrestling: Meghan Werbrich, Taylor – The sophomore won the 145-pound weight class at the Lady Dragons Pool Tournament Jan. 29 at West Union High School.
