There are a lot of franchises the Cincinnati Bengals don't have bragging rights over. From 1991 to 2003, the Bengals suffered a lot of losses that led to marks such as the 38-67 all-time record against a team from Pittsburgh.
(But the Bengals were 2-0 against them this year)
But not every franchise has had their way with the Bengals. Some teams haven't done very well against Cincinnati all-time. Like the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles, who are 6-19-2 all-time against Cincinnati.
And one of the teams who has struggled against Cincinnati is the only thing that stands between the Bengals and a Super Bowl ring.
Yes, the Rams, and quarterback Matthew Stafford for that matter, have a losing record against the Bengals all-time.
If the Bengals were playing the other team from Los Angeles, the Chargers, well this would be a different story. The Bengals are 15-23 all-time against the former club from San Diego (though, Cincinnati has one big win over that franchise).
Here's a look at the Bengals vs. Rams all-time matchup:
The Los Angeles Rams (and St. Louis Rams) are 6-8 vs. the Bengals
When the Rams beat the Bengals in 2019, 24-10 in London, it snapped a three-game losing streak against the Bengals (but hey, they haven't beaten the Bengals in America since 2003).
The Rams were stuck in mediocrity for much of the late 2000s and most of the 2010s. The Bengals played them three times in that stretch and won all of them. Including a 31-7 win in 2015, a year when the Bengals won the AFC North.
Have the Bengals ever lost back-to-back games against the Rams
The Rams are a different franchise since the last Bengals win in 2015. They even moved back to L.A. And the move paid off because they snapped a losing streak.
And the Bengals have lost back-to-back games to the Rams.
In fact, the series is highlighted by streaks. The Rams won three times over the Bengals from 1996-2003. Including a 38-10 loss in 1999, the last, and only, time the Rams won the Super Bowl.
The Bengals have two three-game winning streaks and one two-game streak against the Rams.
Rams have gone 5-8 vs. Bengals since 1972
The Rams won the first game 15-12 in 1972 in Los Angeles. But the Bengals won the next three meetings from 1976-1981.
In 1990, the Bengals beat the Rams 34-31 in overtime to kickoff a two-game winning streak.
The last Rams-Bengals game was in London
Every season several NFL teams make the trip across the Atlantic and in 2019 it was the Bengals turn to travel to jolly ole England for a game in London.
They played the Rams and it wasn't great.
The Bengals went 2-14 in 2019 (but honestly, it's the one of the best seasons ever because it gave the Bengals the No. 1 pick, they drafted Joe Brrr and, well, here we are). The Rams won 24-10.
Cooper Kupp (still a Ram) had 220 yards receiving on seven catches.
The Bengals and Rams were two of the worst teams in the 1990s
The lost decade of the 1990s is well known around Cincinnati. It was truly a miserable experience (52-108 record).
But before the Rams won a Super Bowl in 1999 and went 13-3, here's what the Rams' 1990s were like:
- 0 playoff appearances
- 45-99 record
- Moved from Los Angeles to St. Louis
