Bengals rally past Chiefs in Kansas City, reach Super Bowl

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase (1), Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd (83) and Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (28) admire the AFC Championship trophy at the conclusion of the AFC championship NFL football game, Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-24, to advance to the Super Bowl.

The Cincinnati Bengals are in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1989 after a thrilling, come-from-behind 27-24 overtime win against the Chiefs in Kansas City in Sunday's AFC Championship.

"I wouldn't call it surreal. I would say it's exciting," Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow told reporters.

The Chiefs took an early lead, and things got worse when Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah injured his left knee. The NFL's official Twitter account reacted to Patrick Mahomes' second touchdown pass with an "lol."

But then Samaje Perine scored the Bengals' first touchdown, B.J. Hill intercepted Mahomes and Burrow helped the Bengals to 21 unanswered points. Vonn Bell picked off a Mahomes pass in overtime, and CBS' Tony Romo expressed disbelief.
