Former Miami University RedHawks standout Nike Sibande announced Thursday night on the Jeff Capel Radio Show on 93.7 The Fan that he will return to Pitt to play another season for Capel and the Panthers.
Sibande suffered a torn ACL during the Panthers' exhibition game Nov. 1 against Gannon. He averaged 6.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in 14 games last season.
Nike Sibande, who started 94 of his 97 games for MU over three seasons in Oxford, announced his commitment to Pitt in June 2020.
Before he committed to Pitt, the Xavier Musketeers were believed to be among five teams Sibande was considering. Sibande is from Indianapolis and was an AAU teammate of XU's Paul Scruggs.
Sibande averaged 13.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a junior for the RedHawks. After his sophomore season, Sibande entered his name into the 2019 NBA Draft to get an evaluation from the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee.
Sibande was named the Mid-American Conference freshman of the year for the 2017-18 season after leading the RedHawks with 15.1 points per game.
