When Katelyn Sutherland dressed her daughter Jalayne up as Queen Elizabeth II for Halloween this year, she thought it would end with cute pictures and a post on Facebook.
Jalayne, 2, had always had a special bond with Sutherland's two corgis, Rascal and Jack, so she thought it was the perfect way to show off both their close relationship and her personal interest in the queen and British royal family.

For her Halloween costume, Jalayne was dressed up as her best impression of Queen Elizabeth, complete with a matching blue coat and hat, wig, purse, pearls, and of course, her two corgis, which are also a favorite dog breed of the queen.
"I figured it would end after Halloween when I posted it on Facebook for friends and family," Sutherland, who lives in Florence, said.
But after the picture was widely shared and she received many messages to show it to the queen, she also wrote a letter to Windsor Castle with her daughter's picture enclosed because, she figured, why not?
Sutherland printed the picture of Jalayne, Rascal and Jack and mailed the letter in early November, the week Queen Elizabeth reportedly was not feeling well and advised to rest, along with a message wishing her a speedy recovery.
