‘I’m from Boston. We don’t have strong accents’

LSU Tigers football head coach Brian Kelly speaks to the fans at halftime between the LSU Tigers and the Ohio Bobcats at Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Dec. 1.

Interviewed during ESPN's broadcast Tuesday night of Louisiana State University's Texas Bowl meeting with Kansas State, Tigers head coach Brian Kelly explained that the accent he used last month as he addressed a crowd at a basketball game in Baton Rouge wasn't such a stretch because he's from Boston and - in his words - "we don't have strong accents" and "you can't get on me about my accent."

Days after Kelly - the Cincinnati Bearcats' head coach from 2006 to 2009 - was introduced as LSU's new head coach, he spoke to a crowd at the LSU men's basketball team's game against Ohio with an accent that - as many tweeted - hadn't been previously heard from the Massachusetts native.
