A look at the Cincinnati tradition

With all the craziness of 2021, there's something we all forgot to celebrate: the fact that Arnold's Bar & Grill turned 160 years old this year. But don't worry, there's still time. On Wednesday, Dec. 29, the bar and restaurant, which has held steady in the same location since 1861, will celebrate this landmark event with $1.60 draft beers and appetizers.

The first 50 people who show up will receive a free T-shirt designed by local artist Rob Warnick and there will be live bluegrass music from Moonshine Drive from 6 to 8 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m. and close at 10 p.m.

While you're here

Now, in honor of Cincinnati's most historic bar, I'd like to reintroduce you to a little ode I wrote about the place back in December of 2020. (Read that here:Why Arnold's is Cincinnati's most important bar.) Enjoy. And happy anniversary, old friend.

Samuel Adams Brewery presented Oktoberfest at Arnold's on Sept. 18, 2020. The event featured everything German with live music, authentic German food and 10 different kinds of Oktoberfest beers. Bartender Pam Dibold pours up a 16 Lots Oktoberfest.
