Children under age 18 will be required to be accompanied by an adult during certain hours at Kenwood Towne Centre over the next two weeks, the mall has announced.
The center's "Parental Guidance Required" program will be in effect starting Saturday and lasting through Jan. 2.
The program, which began in 2020, implements a mandatory curfew over the two historically busy holiday shopping weeks at the center and applies to all shops within Kenwood. The center said the program was "effective in maintaining a pleasant environment" at Kenwood last year.
“The weeks leading up to and following Christmas are consistently some of the busiest times of year at Kenwood Towne Centre,” David Jacoby, senior general manager of Kenwood Towne Centre, said in a news release. "While everyone is welcome at all times, we simply require our young guests to have adult supervision during certain times. It is our goal to create a family-friendly atmosphere that the entire community will appreciate.”
Kenwood will have trained public safety officers at entrances of the shopping center during the program's hours to check IDs of visitors who appear to be younger than 18 years old. Individuals under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult 21 or older and one adult may accompany up to four youths. There is no limit for youth aged under 10 years old, however.
The mall will make an announcement one hour prior to when the program's hours begin to allow youth shoppers time to finish up their shopping if unsupervised. Individuals whose IDs are checked will be given the option for a wristband to avoid multiple checks.

- 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18.
- 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19.
- 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20.
- 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21.
- 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22.
- 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23.
- 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24.
- 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26.
- 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27.
- 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28.
- 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29.
- 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30.
- 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31.
- 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1.
- 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2.
