Gov. Beshear talks about omicron variant detected in Kentucky


Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced Saturday the omicron variant was detected in the state Friday. Beshear said the omicron variant of the coronavirus was first found in Kenton, Campbell and Fayette counties. Gravity Diagnostics reported those tested results Friday, Dec. 17.Just today, the omicron variant was found in Jefferson County. Dr. Steven Stack said the omicron variant is more transmissible and contagious. Dr. Stack says that one person who has the delta variant could infect five people in the right conditions, but one person who has the omicron various could infect 18 to 20 people in the right conditions. Dr. Stack advises people who are planning to go to holiday parties to upgrade your masks and take an at-home coronavirus test. He says if you test positive for coronavirus, do not go to holiday gatherings.
