In the latest school threat, Talawanda High School students in Butler County were sent home Friday early after a lockdown.
At 11:20 a.m., school officials said students were being kept in their fouth period class while law enforcement investigated a "potential threat" written in a bathroom stall.
The school also barred visitors as part of the lockdown procedure.
More than an hour later at just after 1 p.m., officials said the students at the high school and middle school would be sent home early "out of an abundance of caution."
After-school activities and athletics were also canceled.
This threat came after a rash of threats in the Greater Cincinnati area. Reading City Community School District canceled all classes on Thursday due to a threat. Fairfield and Milford have also dealt with threats this month.
Threats have been happening across the country in the wake of the school shooting in Oxford, Michigan that left four dead and seven injured. Dozens of students have been arrested in Michigan alone as copycat cases spike.
