In a vote that ended Dec. 10, Cincinnati.com readers selected the Cincinnati Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Mercy Health, from high school sports action through Dec. 5.
Winners through Oct. 1 should have received a certificate through the school's athletic department. The next round will come out before the year's end.

Here are this week's top choices:
Football team: Clinton-Massie – Clinton-Massie trailed 28-7 late in the third quarter of the DIV state championship against Youngstown Ursuline. The Falcons responded with 22 unanswered points, sparked by a 49-yard touchdown run from Kody Zantene. After scoring a touchdown to make it 28-27 with 43 seconds left, the Falcons decided to go for two, as Carson Vanhoose converted on a run to secure a 29-28 win, capping a 21-point comeback. After losing its first game of the season, Clinton-Massie won 14 straight games to secure its state championship.
Football player: TyRek Spikes, Winton Woods – The senior running back carried the ball 22 times for 153 yards and a touchdown in Winton Woods’ 21-10 state championship victory over Archbishop Hoban. It was Spikes’ fifth postseason game with over 150 yards rushing.
Ohio boys basketball team: Williamsburg – The Wildcats rallied to defeat Bethel-Tate, 70-66, in overtime for a 2-0 start.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball team: Ludlow – The Panthers are 2-0 after blowing out Pendleton County and grinding out a 55-52 victory over Bishop Brossart
Ohio girls basketball team: Seven Hills – Seven Hills is 4-0 and is yielding just 25.4 points per game.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball team: Grant County – The Lady Braves beat Boone County and Lloyd to move to 2-1.
Boys winter team: Batavia wrestling – The boys took first place in the Dayton Christian Pool Tournament Dec. 4.
Girls winter team: Roger Bacon swimming – The Spartans won a Tri-match against St. Bernard and Purcell Marian, registering 372 points.
Boys archer: Reuben Hinsdale, Simon Kenton – He shot 289 at the Notre Dame Academy Panda Tournament to finish in first place in the boys high division. Reuben led his team to a first-place finish at the tournament.
Girls archer: Carly McGee, Dixie Heights – She shot 284 at the Notre Dame Academy Panda Tournament to finish in first place in the girls high division! Carly led her team to a second-place finish at the tournament.
Ohio big-school boys basketball: Tyler McKinley, Walnut Hills – Leading the Eastern Cincinnati Conference with 21.5 points per game, he is shooting nearly 80% from the field this season. Last week, he scored 27 points and had 10 rebounds, 4 assists and a block in the 63-49 win over Kings Dec. 3.
Ohio small-school boys basketball: Kaidon Whisman, Williamsburg – Against Bethel-Tate Friday night, he had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals in a 70-66 overtime victory. On Tuesday night against Ripley, he had 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in a 70-65 victory.
Ohio big-school girls basketball: Izzy Rotert, Mercy McAuley – The junior forward scored 20 points in the 35-22 loss to Seton Nov. 30, adding 9 rebounds, 7 steals and 4 blocks.
Ohio small-school girls basketball: Taylor McElfresh, Felicity-Franklin – The senior guard had 20 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a block in the Dec. 2 win over Bethel-Tate.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball: Landen Hamilton, Conner – With the score tied at 56 in the final seconds at St. Henry, Hamilton intercepted a long pass that could have led to a game-winning layup for St. Henry, then hit a game-winning three at the buzzer from a few feet inside midcourt to give his team a 59-56 win. Hamilton scored 25 in the game with five 3-pointers after scoring 21 in Conner’s season-opening win.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball: Anna Hamilton, Conner – The sophomore point guard averaged 21 points-per-game, shooting 42 percent from the field last week, helping the Lady Cougars to a 2-0 start of the season.
Boys big-school bowler: Connor P-Minton, Little Miami – The junior, who leads the Eastern Cincinnati Conference in average, had a 683 three-game series (204, 245, 234) in the Big Blue Class to finish third Dec. 4. He also bowled a 460 (226, 234) in a Nov. 29 win over Loveland.
Boys small-school bowler: Elan Little, Seven Hills – Elan led the team with a 408 series against Summit Country Day and led the team 541 series at the DII State Kick-Off Tournament at HP Lanes in Columbus.
Girls big-school bowler: Hannah Campbell, Mercy McAuley – The junior bowled a 397 series (215, 182) against Mount Notre Dame on Nov. 30.
Girls small-school bowler: Ella Harvey, Taylor – Ella helped the Taylor girls start their season 4-0. She shot games of 188 and 214 for a 402 series in the away match against Wyoming, and games of 203 and 193 for a 396 series in our home match against Wyoming. Ella averaged 199.5 for these two matches.
Ohio boys swimmer and diver: Jonathon Kroger, La Salle – The senior won the 200 freestyle and 50 freestyle in the 62-39 win over Oak Hills Dec. 1.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys swimmer and diver: Adam Young, Boone County – He won the 100 breaststroke and was part of a relay win for the Rebels in a quad meet with Conner, Cooper and Holmes.
Girls swimmer and diver: Peyton Rossi, Harrison – The freshman broke a school record held by Aimee Glindmeyers (2:29.51) in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:24.99.
Ohio big-school wrestler: Ben Weigand, Elder – The sophomore took first place in the 120-pound weight class to help the Panthers to a second-place team finish at the Rumble on the River, Taylor High School, Dec. 4.
Ohio small-school wrestler: Caden Conner, Reading – The senior won the 175-pound weight class, helping Reading to a second-place team finish at the Franklin Invitational Dec. 4.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana wrestler: Mason Schweitzer, Walton-Verona – He won all four of his matches by fall to help the Bearcats to a 4-0 record at their home tournament Dec. 4.
Girls wrestler: Chloe Vining, Bethel-Tate – The sophomore placed first in the 190-pound weight class at the Hammer & Anvil girls tournament Dec. 4, helping Bethel-Tate to an eighth-place team finish.
