Wednesday, there was snow and ice in Cincinnati, with temperature highs reaching 44 and a low around 26.
Today, temperatures will warm significantly, with highs reaching 52 and overnight lows around 46, according to the National Weather Service. The warm-up will continue through Friday when storms are expected to roll through the area.
After storms Friday and Saturday, temperature highs will be in the upper 50s and mid- to upper 60s during the rest of the weekend and into the next week.
Looking ahead, there's a high chance of above-normal temperatures and rain in December, according to the Climate Prediction Center's outlook. In Cincinnati, the normal average temperature is around 35.6 degrees, normal highs are 43.3 and normal lows are 27.9.
What's causing the warm-up in temperatures? The Climate Prediction Center partly attributes it to La Nina, which is expected to strengthen and last through this winter. Because it is evolving for the winter season, there's an increased likelihood of above-normal temperatures and precipitation for the entire region.
